This was an EXCELLENT read!!!!! As a mom with entrepreneurial dreams, I'm often discouraged by business productivity advice. Not because it isn't helpful, but because it isn't actionable for my situation. I have a young child at home and one on the way, I don't have margin in my day to pursue much of the advice that high power business people often share. What Sarah and Beth Anne do in this book is give sound advice, but with a practical edge. Their productivity tips are wonderfully helpful, and coupled with tidbits of parenting wisdom (like how to maximize your children's naptime) the book feels a bit like like you're having a business meeting over a playdate. The Brilliant Business Moms community at large is one I've come to deeply appreciate and draw a great amount of inspiration and motivation from. I hope this isn't the last resource of this kind from Sarah and Beth Anne, it's certainly win as their first!

This book is written by Sara and Beth Ann, two women who run a successful Esty business together, they have an online presence with a website and a wildly successful weekly podcast that caters to the working mom, all the while they have their own families and somehow manage to get it all done while making it look easy. This book gives the reader a glimpse into how they accomplish all they do and the systems they use to keep themselves accountable.While I don't have young children anymore, this book on time management offered many ideas that I can put to use immediately. Between my day job, being a grandma to 6 kids and being very involved in my church, my time was limited just the same. When I have free time I waste it on the computer going down the magical rabbit hole called Pinterest, and then feeling guilty that I didn't accomplish much of anything that I thought I wanted or needed to.They include worksheets to help you define your passions and then help determine what the big goals are to allow you to act upon your passions along with several other worksheets to help you manage your time and keep track of your progress. The book also includes links to several other websites of other bloggers that they mention in the book that are also useful resources.This is a great resource and I will be referencing it many times in the coming months.

While the title of this book may make it seem like the childless among us have nothing to gain, this can't be further from the truth. I do not have kids, but I am still trying to juggle so many different parts of my life. I work a full time day job (50+ hours per week) while also running a handmade business from home. All of the tips and chapters about kids activities were mentally switched to "day job" where that needs to be my focus. The rest of my time can be spent working on my business and maximizing that flex time. The scheduling chapter is exceptionally helpful for this.In addition, I love the takeaways listed at the end of each chapter. I can quickly skim through the book for inspiration, and focus on a chapter that has a takeaway that caught my eye.I am printing out all of the worksheets mentioned, and will be putting them to use to help corral my chaos very soon.

If you are a mom who wants inspiration and motivation to find ways to live your dream read this book. It's filled with a variety of ideas from lots of moms, not just the authors. The authors share stories that are personal and relatable. While I gained several nuggets of wisdom from reading it, I think the most important thing gained was the inspiration to think outside the box when it comes to some everyday, sometimes mundane, challenges that we face as we wear our many, varied hats. Even if you are not a mom who is also an entrepreneur you will love the great time-saving, productivity tips and the transparency of the real-life stories shared within the humorous pages. I plan to buy a few for gifts for family and friends.

I'm really into finding better ways to manage my time lately and this book was well...timely! LOL! The advice and guidance throughout are really spot-on, but that's not even my favorite part. My favorite part is when they talk about what "other" people tell you to do to be successful and reach your goals and how that advice is way off-base for Moms.It's a relief to hear someone else say "There's no way I can get up 4 hours early to work on my stuff because someone has to watch the kids" and understand that you can't just throw yourself into your work with laser focus like all the other books say. You have more than just yourself to think about! Moms have to manage their time differently and that doesn't make those practices inferior to what others are doing, it's just specific to life as a parent.Sarah and Beth Anne are parents and business owners and clearly know what they're talking about. This book helps us Moms give ourselves permission to be perfectly imperfect and work smartly around our particular needs to find success.
